The Future of Food
I was sad to learn that Hawaii is the number one most tested site for GMO's and Monsanto. They figured if anything went wrong that the islands were far enough away to have an affect elsewhere. Bummer, I am rooting for a GMO free Hawaii!
Watch this when you have time. If you are at all concerned about sustainable living you need to be aware of this. I knew that it was important to not buy hybrid seeds and GMO foods. However, this provided much more insight. I was floored. However, awareness is EVERYTHING!
I guess I feel better in one sense that the world runs on money and I have a choice as to how I spend it. I belong to a local organic co op. I rarely visit grocery stores anymore. I really want to go back to basics. Some advancements are great, yet sometimes I wonder if we have gone too far.
I feel really good that I began seed saving and starting my own edible landscape. It just eliminates so many questions when you take matters into your own hands. I don't like people messing with my food or the future food for my kids!
I encourage others to do the same. Find a local organic co op on: http://www.localharvest.org/csa/ . Or grow some of your own food! Even if all your have is a balcony, you'd be amazed what you can grow yourself. Buy open pollenated, heirloom, organic!

Why do environmentalist always say that someone is trying to control everyone? There is nothing wrong with genetic engineered food; it has saved over a billion people. How can you live your lives which are based on technology, then degcry it when people need to be fed. We should be glad we have food at all. Purly organic foods will not feed the world. This video is just radical properganda which is trying to terrify us, which is wrong.
First let me say that I in no way feel “controlled”. This video doesn't “terrify” me. It just affirms what I am doing…taking matters into my own hands . I actually feel very empowered. I believe people should grow their own food. If not, at least know the orgins of it. My intention is to inform people of what is happening. This was new to me and I felt like sharing it. Some people feel fine with it,like yourself. I feel we should eat food as natural as possible. Sure, technology has allowed so many amazing advances, but sometimes I wonder if we've gone too far. People can be fed without GMO's. I do feel strongly in growing food the way nature intended. I am not too sure if anyone feels “terrified” by watching it. I am a huge advocate into putting food into our own hands and growing it ourselves. Hybrid seeds do not reproduce and tons of foods are no longer cultivated due to monocropping. I feel we have lost a connection. With all that said, keep in mind this is one persons perpective. Thanks for contributing your stance. All opinions are welcome.
It would be nice if people were able to grow their own food. But why can't people; no time, no growable land, sometimes no knowledge of how to grow. As for the concern you know where the orgins are: what about fertilizer or the water that is cleaned, do you know the “orgins” of those. People have been mating plants and animals for years to aid best traits. The reason you are concerned about technology going to far is probably because of the unknown. You fear that something will result negaitively out of it. Well humans keep reproducing so we need to get food to 6 billion people. I don't know where you get facts to say “hybrid seed do not reproduce and tons of foods are no longer cultivated due to monocropping.” If anything we should stop eating so much in America. I am concered with people that do not have food. Having crops produce more food in Africa, means less people are starving. Once they improve their technology they wont have to worry about food and water as much. I do appreciate you being so nice and open-minded. But by simpling calling these foods “frankenfoods” it is a negative aspect, along with the movie showing atomic bombs and compare them to improvements of food technology.
First of all, if you do not have the time to take care of your own food situation, how do you expect to take care of anyone elses? What DO you have time for??? Aside from breathing and drinking water it is the next important thing to sustaining our life! How can we be too busy for that?
Land issues? I lived in an apartment for a couple years and I only had a simple balcony. You would be amazed what could be grown. I had NO experience, but a curious drive. Done correctly, there are raised beds that can be constructed to max out a good amount of space ( a 4x4 area can do wonders). Aside from that there are community gardens and local land owners who are willing to lend their land. If you look around you'll be amazed. There are solutions to every road block.
I cannot do anything about the thousands of people who are hungry now. In the future I hope to be a huge part in sustainable food supply for all, but in the meantime I am simply being the change in my own life. I am growing what I can, connecting with local farmers and walking their grounds, helping people set up their own gardens at home and feeding my two children. I am advocating as I go. I do not claim to be perfect. I just keep my eyes and ears open and learn. As I learn I share. If anyone is truly concerned and wants to know, the internet is full of resources. I suggest delving deeper. My intention is to create awareness.
My food situation is easy I go to the store. You fed a family of three on balcony foods? No you go to the store where technology has produced enough food for your family. I love local grown foods because of the timing of ripness and the fact that local growers are inexpensive I agree. It would be nice if people were able to grow there own foods but it just is not realistic. In richer neighborhoods that may be easier which I am assuming you and I are (based on your attractiveness) because many people in the world are glad to have any food. In America we have an abundence of food. Saying that we need to be aware of genetic-engineered foods is true and not true. The governments tests genetic engineered food more than any other food product. If your plateform was knowledge or “awareness” you only had one side. Sorry for making long posts and debating (I have a degree in philosophy so you can see I like debating), this will be my last, I encourage you to spread organic foods but with more slack for technology (even though it can be dangerous or scary). Thank You :)
